The day of cookies.

Carrying on with pictures from my Christmas vacation...

Spent a day at my grandmothers decorating cookies while Chad sat in the Denver airport and Delta attempted to ruin his vacation... I won't get started on Delta but just know we won't be flying with them for a while...  back to the cookies.

I don't have the recipe for the cookie and the icing was a basic powdered sugar recipe...  Cookie cutters were Williams-Sonoma (on clearance now!).

Icing
1 cup powdered sugar
2 teaspoons milk
2 teaspoons light corn syrup
1/4 tsp vanilla extract or whatever flavoring that you want to use
Food coloring

This is not a real fight.  Just a pretend OK?!

Day trip to Montgomery

My mom and I had another day trip to Montgomery to meet her sister Sue and niece Blair.  They live in Birmingham so Montgomery has always been the half way point for gathering.  We all have the TJ Maxx illness so that's where we start.  It's always fun to shop with them and have some time to catch up. I took a ton of photos that day because I saw so much stuff that I needed... alas American Express has yet to send me that black card. Maybe next year.

Sad news Fresh Market moved.

We had lunch at Panera then we went to LeAnns Interiors.  Sad news. They were having a going out of business sale that day.  50-75% is the good news.  No--- I didn't buy any of this. Refer to American Express sadness in paragraph numero uno.

Next stop was Rosemont.  Do you love orchids as much as me?  Doubt it.

Then there was Southern Homes and Gardens for some photos by the trees...

I said something highly inappropriate right before photo

Visited my old homestead to check up on some rosemary and rose bushes I planted before we left... Thanks Dave for letting me peek and take a bouquet! You are right... no black thumb here.

Closet Challenge

This past week I helped my mom clean out her closet.  I am talking CLEAN out her closet.   We went all the way back to 1970 and then made a quick u-turn back  to 2011... I was about 4 hours into the process and realized that I didn't get a before.  Sorry folks... just look at the pile of metal hangers on the floor and try to picture everything...

This week I have a challenge for everyone that reads this.... Pick one closet to organize small or large... could even be a cabinet.   Take a photo before and then an after and email it to me.  I will post the photos of before and afters later.  You have the rest of the week to get your 2011 donation forms in.  Put some music on and give it an hour or two at most... see how good you feel after.  Make the most of it!  I am going to do the same with my own closet.  It needs a little TLC.

Let a friend shop your donation pile.  They will appreciate it!

Brundidge, Alabama

Oooo buddy.  My mom and I went to Brundidge, AL this morning to do some antique shopping... It is an annual tradition to meet there in December for a little Christmas shopping.  My grandmother Jean would drive from Union Springs and knock out every gift on her list.  The town doesn't offer as many stores as the past and you have to be really open to searching for items.  It's a great little place to spend a morning or more... Here is a link to their website in case you ever have some spare time to visit.

$15 going back to Colorado with me....

Artistic Images by Heather

Exciting! Remember in an old post here that I mentioned Chad and I found a photographer to come take some pictures of us around our neighborhood?  I got the OK to share some of them now!

Heather  is pretty REALLY awesome. What what!!! One of my friends recommended her.  Super reasonable prices... really fast turn around.  Check out her website here.  She makes the most fun pictures with kids!  I love the ones of the kids dressed up like  gnomes and Snow White!!  Am I too old for a gnome costume?  Don't answer that..

I really wanted some updated photos and the two of us and the places that we spend the most time at this point in our lives.

Enjoy!
