Friday finds...

This weekend was crazy busy! Friday I colored my hair and trimmed it for the first time in months... I didn't cut any length off since it has taken what seems like AGES to get it over that weird spot on my back that's in between short and long... you know the spot I am talking about!?  After that I went to a few antique stores before meeting a friend to walk... my loot is below.

I love Christopher Robin...
I couldn't turn away from a home state plate...
I loved these candle sticks made out of various salt and pepper shakers... Very $$$... I wonder how much effort it would take to make them?
A vintage stork... He was sooooo pretty! I didn't have a need for him but he was cool.

Hinged Milk Crate Bread Box

Our little doggy Quincy has a thing for bread.  Actually lets make it all things carbohydrate. If we leave any type of carb out on the counter int he morning when we leave for work  we can safely  bet that it will be in his little tummy by the time we get home.  Our normal storage area is our microwave since we have no extra cabinet space for anything.  Plus it is annoying taking it in and out when we want to use the thing.

While I was out over the weekend I came across a hinged milk box. For $15 I thought it was perfect so snatched it up so fast you couldn't see my arms move.  I think it looks great out on our counter and it is full of carby treats.

27th Birthday Party

The unthinkable has been done... I threw myself a birthday party and it was SO much fun!  Everyone needs an excuse to hang out with girlfriends for breakfast on a Saturday morning and to dye Easter eggs. Am I right or am I right?! Desiree made her Blueberry Monkey Bread and Crustless Quiche, I picked up an assortment from Panera, Trish brought strawberries, Stacey brought Alec for us to drool over, the other Stacey made the best mini carrot cakes (!!!!!!), and of course we had to have champagne thanks to Ginger!!!!

I set up the table last night. My mom and I had shopped for little goodies for everyone when she and my dad were here.  And YES mom I saved all of the candy and gave it ALL out.  Phew!  It was hard to do. HA!

Have you dyed eggs yet this weekend?  We colored 3 dozen today!  They are soooo pretty.

I ate my quiche and drank my Poinsettia (Cranberry juice and champagne... I googled it) like a good birthday girl should do...

She cracked me up opening this... I was too scared to do it myself...

I was having so much fun that I forgot to open all the sweet cards that everyone brought for me.  I took a mini nap (see below) and then I was ready to open those... Thanks everyone!!! I am pretty sure that it is safe to say that I have found the best group of women to surround myself with.  I am one lucky sista.

Silk Tie Dyed Easter Eggs

I had to do it... after seeing it all over the Internet it was all that I could  think about.  I went to Goodwill yesterday and rummaged through all of the old silk ties. After finding 3 that I wanted to test with I ran home round my rubber bands and got to work.

Make sure that the ties are 100% silk.  When you get home rip them or cut gently which ever fits your fancy for the day... You only want the silk.

Next you will have to wrap your egg with the pattern facing the egg in case it is bright on one side of the silk than the other.  If you bought the correct ties.. they should have the same pattern on each side. Just saying... :)

Secure it on the top with a rubber band.

Ok. Now that your tie is tied up put it in a big pot and bring the water to a boil.  About 20 minutes.  You want to give it some time to really soak in the dye. I put some plain eggs in the water with my little tie packages and let them boil in all of the water that the dye bled into.  They turned out gorg.  Marble effect if I might say so myself...

I was too anxious to see how they looked so I put them in a bowl of ice water to cool them for about 10 minutes.

Ready?!  Unwrap your eggs now.  Lovely aren't they?

It is safe to say that I probably could have boiled a little longer but it was late and I was urber tired. Next year...

Oh!! Guess who stopped by our house to check in on us! That's right.. The Easter Bunny himself.  He was NOT interested in the grass I was trying to give him so I threw some apple slices out for him.  They are gone but I don't know what or who ate them.  Hahhahhahaha!

Have a great Saturday!

I am gearing up for a fun weekend!  I have invited a few friends over for a late birthday brunch and then it is Easter on Sunday.  Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays.  I love going to church in the morning and then coming home to a nice lunch and hunting eggs after.  We haven't hunted eggs since moving so far from family and all of the kids but I am determined to do it this weekend even if it is only with Quincy.

I have been research how to color eggs and came across some really cool ideas.  We are going to be dying eggs at my birthday brunch tomorrow so I want to have lots of choices for everyone.  Check out these pretties that I found... Most are from Martha Stewart because let's just all admit that Martha does Easter Eggs right.

Weekend Finds

Chad knows how I am obsessed with all things Anthropolgie... Anthro this and Anthro that.  It is completely normal to have conversation about it around our dinner table, computer desk, car to work, running, bike riding, and dog walking... Get my point?  If it isn't Anthro it's Goodwill.

Chad also knows what makes me happy.  He gave me an entire afternoon and evening to do nothing but shop at Goodwill and Anthropologie this weekend.  It was fantastic!!!!!

I have to admit that it's my birfday and it's not normal to get to do both of these stores on the same weekend.. I'll take it even if it is once a year :)

Ahhh!  I've drooled over this vase for 3 months... now I own it.

Best candle ever... It's burned all weekend...

Scratch offs..  I won $4 to buy more tix.  Thanks Chadwick.

What! The perfect bowl to portion my food in...

Hello.... I also have this in blue. War Eagle.
Since my birthday isn't officially until tomorrow I can't really say that I am going to be giving a piece of Pyrex away for my birthday and to celebrate that I have had 10,000 page views BUT I can hint that there may be a piece of Pyrex given away... ya' know what I'm sayin!
