Cleveland

If I had a ton of cash and the knowledge I would purchase and renovate one building at a time in downtown Cleveland.  I had an amazing opportunity to attend a conference for Junior League there last weekend.  I learned a lot about our organization and its structure, made new friends, and got to see a once really great city.

I am not going to say that I would use my measly vacation days and book a trip here but if I had more time I probably would... Just so I could do some in depth city exploring. The Hotel Renaissance was an amazing historical building filled with weddings, great views, crystal chandeliers, and marble fountains. It is connected to a small mall, a casino, the train station, and a few restaurant's.

From the hotel you could walk to parks, the waterfront, the rock and roll hall of fame, and a newly renovated pedestrian street full of new and busy restaurant's. It took us over 3 hours one night to find a restaurant for dinner.

There is no real shopping, no coffee shops, or beautiful city artwork anywhere to be found on the few blocks that we had time to explore.  The architecture was amazing though.  Totally worth taking time to see. If you look hard enough you can see a once great American city that we let slip through the cracks... again.
